Sparrow - Product Submission Form
Thank you for your interest in submitting your content to Sparrow!
Please be sure to read through the below information prior to submission.
We look forward to reviewing your content!
Submitting a product requires your understanding of the below Content Requirements. Please review them. 1. Filmmaking quality: Everyone starts somewhere, so perfection is not the goal, but content on Sparrow should be at a certain caliber. Generally, content should be watchable without any gross errors in audio or video and should tell a cohesive story (or have a clear thesis in the case of non-narrative works). This requirement is largely subjective and at the discretion of Sparrow programmers. 2. Legal ownership: Content must be your own. Every second of audio and frame of video material must be created by you, licensed by you to use for the project, or in the public domain. If we become aware that any part of your project includes material you are not licensed to use, that is grounds for immediate removal of the content from Sparrow, as well as additional penalties if we have reason to believe more of your content breaks this rule, including, at our discretion, removal of all of your content from Sparrow and forfeiture of all unpaid funds due to you. 3. Standards of conduct: Your content may not include material that is pornographic, excessively vulgar or violent, hateful, or promoting anything illegal or immoral. In recognizing that the above requirements are subjective, we want to clarify here that Accented Films and their partners in Sparrow programming, at their discretion, reserve the right to make decisions about this rule. 4. Content Advisory: All products on Sparrow include a content advisory, which you will write yourself. If Sparrow programmers review your product and feel that your content advisory inaccurately represents it, we will discuss recommended changes with you in advance of your product's Go Live date. However, we ultimately reserve the right to make all final decisions about the product's content advisory.
Submitting a product requires your understanding of the below Pricing Guidelines. Please review them. 1. We will charge you $5 per half-hour of total video sent for upload, payable before your content is made available on Sparrow. This fee is to cover our cost to upload content to our server host. Sparrow does not turn a profit on this fee. 2. We will not pro-rate this cost and will always round up to the next half-hour. A few examples to clarify this: if you submit 2 total minutes of video, our fee is $5. If you submit 30 minutes of video, our fee is $5. If you submit 31 minutes of video, our fee is $10. 3. When we say “total minutes of video,” this includes the main project file, as well as any trailers or extras. 4. This fee is not recurring, it is a one-time fee assessed when you send us all the video files you would like uploaded. Please note that once we upload a particular file, that space is now used. If you send us an alternate version that you would like to replace the original, we will assess a new fee based on runtime. 5. This fee resets with each new batch of programming you send us, within reason. Generally, that means that when you submit a new project, we will charge another $5 per half hour, even if your previous upload did not use a complete half-hour block. If your previous upload was recent, we may be able to make an exception, but generally we start fresh with each new upload.
Submitting a product requires your understanding of the below Payout Policy. Please review it. 1. Sales of your products on Sparrow are divided by four parties. First, before funds are made available to Sparrow, a 7% commission is assessed by our hosting platform, and a credit card fee of 3% + $0.50 is also assessed. These fees, totaling 10% + $0.50, are removed, and the remainder is paid to Sparrow. Sparrow itself assesses a commission of 15% on the original list price. This commission is removed, and the remainder is paid to you, the filmmaker. 2. At this time, content may only be packaged and sold as a “buy” or “rent” product. However, in the future, we may investigate offering most or all content on Sparrow as part of a subscription product, similar to Netflix or Disney+. This is a distant goal and not something we can speak about with any concrete information at this time. 3. Content does not have to be sold exclusively as standalone. For example, if you have 3 short films available on Sparrow, you may sell them all independently, and you may also choose to offer them as a “bundle.” Video content still only needs to be uploaded once, even if it is available in multiple products. If you are interested in setting up a product such as this, please let us know when we discuss. 4. You may also elect to make your content available on Sparrow at no charge. Any fan films or other content using an intellectual property you do not own should include a disclaimer indicating this in the synopsis. Please note that content made available for free still requires a video upload, and will still be subject to the $5/half-hour rate outlined above. 5. Funds will be payable to you via check (mailed directly to you) or PayPal transfer, on a quarterly basis during the month following the close of the quarter (e.g. Q1 funds based on sales from January to March are payable to you by the end of April).
